A Simple Skincare Routine for Hot, Humid UAE Weather

A UAE summer asks a lot of your skin. Step outside and the humidity makes everything feel heavy and shiny; step back inside and hours of air-conditioning quietly pull water out of it. Many people end up with skin that is oily on the surface and dehydrated underneath - a combination that can look dull, feel tight and break out more easily. The answer is not more products. It is fewer, lighter ones, chosen for the job.
Why humid heat and AC are a tricky mix
Heat raises oil and sweat production, so pores look larger and make-up slides. At the same time, cold, dry indoor air increases water loss from the skin's surface. When skin is short on water, it can feel tight after cleansing and may produce even more oil to compensate. A good summer routine therefore does two things at once: it keeps oil in check and it replaces water, without heavy, occlusive creams.
Your morning routine
1. Cleanse gently
Overnight, skin builds up oil and sweat, so a morning cleanse helps. Use lukewarm water, not hot. If your skin feels tight or dry, the Avocado Hydrating Face Wash cleans without stripping. If you get shiny by mid-morning, the Charcoal Deep Cleansing Face Wash lifts excess oil and city dust.
2. Hydrate with a water-based serum
This is the step most people skip in summer, and it is the one AC-dried skin needs most. Press two or three drops of Hyaluronic Acid Serum into slightly damp skin. It draws water into the skin without adding oil, so it layers comfortably under sunscreen.
3. Add a targeted serum (optional)
If shine and pores are your main concern, follow with Niacinamide Serum 5%. If dullness and uneven tone bother you more, choose the Vitamin C Brightening Serum for antioxidant support during the day. You do not need both every morning.
4. Moisturise lightly - or skip it
In peak humidity, oily skin can often go straight from serum to sunscreen. Combination or dehydrated skin may still want a thin, oil-free layer such as the Tea Tree Soothe Cream.
5. Finish with high-protection sunscreen
Two finger-lengths for face and neck, every day. The Sunscreen Gel SPF 60+ feels lightest in humidity; the Sunscreen Cream SPF 60+ suits normal to dry skin. Reapply every two hours when you are outdoors.
Your evening routine
1. Cleanse properly
By evening your skin is carrying sunscreen, sweat, dust and perhaps make-up. Cleanse for a full 30 to 60 seconds. If you wore water-resistant sunscreen or full make-up, cleanse twice - once to break it down, once to clean the skin.
2. Hydrate again
A few drops of hyaluronic acid serum help replace the water lost during a day indoors.
3. Treat
Evening is the time for treatment serums. Niacinamide works well morning and night. If texture and fine lines are your focus, introduce the Retinol Night Serum two or three nights a week and build up slowly. For marks left by old breakouts, the Skin Brightening Serum is a good night-time choice. Use one treatment per night rather than stacking several.
4. Seal it in
A light moisturiser at night helps hold hydration in while you sleep in an air-conditioned room. Oily skin can keep it thin; drier skin can be a little more generous.
Small habits that make a big difference
- Turn down the shower temperature. Very hot water strips the skin's natural oils and leaves it tighter afterwards.
- Blot, do not wipe. Blotting papers lift shine without removing your sunscreen.
- Keep the AC from blowing on your face. Angle vents away from your desk and bed where you can.
- Rinse after the gym. Sweat left to dry on skin can contribute to congestion.
- Drink water through the day. It will not replace a serum, but it supports your overall comfort in the heat.
If you want it even simpler
The minimum effective summer routine is three steps: a gentle cleanser, a hydrating serum and sunscreen in the morning; cleanser and serum at night. Our Hydration & Glow Trio brings hyaluronic acid, niacinamide and SPF 60+ together if you want a ready-made starting point. Give any new routine at least four weeks before judging it - skin needs time to settle.
Questions & answers
Do I need a moisturiser if my skin is oily in summer?
Not always. If your skin feels comfortable after a hydrating serum and sunscreen, you can skip a separate moisturiser in the morning. Most people still benefit from a light one at night, especially in air-conditioned bedrooms.
Why does my skin feel oily and tight at the same time?
That usually means it is dehydrated rather than dry - short on water, not oil. Gentle cleansing and a water-based serum like hyaluronic acid usually help skin feel more balanced within a few weeks.
How many serums should I use at once?
One or two is plenty. A hydrating serum plus one targeted serum (niacinamide, vitamin C, retinol or a brightening serum) covers most needs. Layering many actives at once makes irritation more likely.
